Chasing users fleeing another platform is not a long-term valuable strategy. Effort is better spent trying to figure out the compelling reason for people to join the network independently. If you have that, then you can use sudden external entropy to help grow. But sign ups for the sake of sign ups don’t matter.

While I agree it’s not a great place to be spending time & energy, helping out those who have been de-platforms is more than signups for the sake of signups. It does actually demonstrate the value here.

Is "being able to use it" not valuable?

One value I can think of: forever access. It’s not just that Farcaster can’t be as easily censored, but also that it’s not up to one company to shut it down. X may go out of business. Same with Bluesky. Threads may just get shut down one day. Mastodon is the only thing comparable, I suppose. But it has other issues.
