Why does export composition matter more than economic dependence on exports?

> is there an alternative market for my exports? 
> are there substitutes for what I’m importing?
> are we importing more critical goods or luxury goods?

it’s not just the aggregate numbers, it’s the specific type of economic pain. will the economy be crippled or inconvenienced?

because of weighted impact

small % of x can have a relatively larger impact than a higher % of y

but yeah, since it’s % GDP ultimately, it wouldn’t make much difference
