Always hesitant on extra kitchen gadgets, but the pasta insert for Made In stock pots is pretty convenient if you make pasta frequently and want to keep the starchy water readily available for finishing the sauce-pasta emulsion. https://madeincookware.com/products/pasta-insert/pasta-insert

@dwr.eth You seem to make pasta frequently, but have you ever tried cold pasta, which was born from the idea of cold soba ? https://warpcast.com/eiteengo/0xd152d0a8

I bought this but almost never used and gave it away, because when you lift the built-in colander and move it away you inevitably make a mess - instead what I do is keep another bowl with its own colander and tip the pasta pot into that let it strain a few seconds and then tip the colander into the saucepan

This is a really good idea. Which pot model / set is that, if you don't mind?

Oh, absolutely! I always use mine from cuisinart. Pretty much the same thing and very, very practical. Now, what’s the sauce joining that pasta there eh? Made me curious 😋

love these - i tend to use a big kitchen spider ala kenji style for smaller shapes like this which is great because you can get most all of it in 3 scoops, and only have the utensil to wash vs the insert.

I have a similar pot and love it! If you cook different pastas for yourself and the kids, there’s a pot separator that’s quite useful! Btw what did you have orecchiette with? Have you tried them with broccoli, anchovies, and chili?

Dan, as an italian I almost cried of joy reading somebody out there uses the starchy water to enrich the sauce. Good job 💯
