1/ People seem increasingly concerned about the term "daily active users" (DAU). It's used by other web2 social networks (in SEC filings!) and now other decentralized social networks; we use Meta's definition (below). Is there likely a better definition? Yes! Have we come up with a better methodology? Not yet.

1) empathy. nobody has solved it. i imagine it’s hard. 2) i believe numbers are real and that’s not where i see a disconnect. 3) i believe U in DAU is inaccurate. in reality, it is active accounts. some N% bots. some not. and if true, then talk ab “growth” could caveat — and still cite same growth metrics.

I don't believe it is about being fake. It's a deeper question about the future of AI agents and bots and whether humans deserves to be treated differently.
