How many times do I have to repeat that most users and developers on Farcaster did not know Varun or myself prior to joining Farcaster.

And in some cases have *become* friends because they stuck around early on when no one else cared. We've spent years with this people socializing on this social network. :)

Don't conflate something that's earned / built with cronyism.

maybe? the autofollow list is a necessary evil of consumer social and it is a lottery with financial upside, is what it is etc

We no longer have the initial follow list.

I've casted about it dozens of times? Initial follows were set up last July based on people casting in channels that mapped to onboarding interests. They were added to the list because they were actively using the network pre-permissionless in a way that benefitted the network--from my point of view.

not exactly what I’m referring to, ie clubhouse ppl who were on the initial list grew to millions of followers and as a result got paid for boosting rooms 

same here wrt moxie and airdrops in addition to setting the dominant culture, doesn’t mean those ppl haven’t put in tons of work but I think ppl would bitch a lot less if we just acknowledge the boost some ppl were given
