Worth reading. I spent a lot of my time at Coinbase trying to find and keep fiat bank accounts open (two of the banks on this list were my relationships). https://www.piratewires.com/p/crypto-choke-point

It’s funny to do this at the same time as they’re running an RFI for areas of crypto and blockchain to invest in R&D. I feel like this isn’t a policy issue, but a lack of strategic coherence.

I’m on a quest to make our money work built from crypto. I’ve spent the past year experiencing this bank retraction first hand, getting accounts open then instantly closed before we can even integrate. The gates are well monitored now, I don’t see any commercial scale on-ramps that aren’t DD, KYC/KYB gated

"And US regulators can scarcely afford to forget what happened with FTX, in which they curtailed the business activities of onshore exchanges, effectively pushing US individuals into the waiting claws of SBF." You'd almost think it was intentional.

Why does the US government act that way? I'm seeing an increasing number of platforms unable to provide their services there. I'm starting to feel happy that the EU still dismisses crypto lol

My position doesn’t change. The financial system will do what it always does. People say crypto has never existed in an environment with high rates. I say the financial system has never had a crash while crypto existed. COVID was net gain lol This is a test for tradition markets as much as rates are a test for crypt

IDK why the US would do this. The main use case for crypto is exporting the US financial system. First: stablecoins Now: bonds and stocks Seems like a massive missed opportunity

i believe this stems from the abject failure of the crypto industry to develop a unified ethos for decentralized autonomous software. The neutrality / laissez-faire narrative is simply not effective. The decentralized, “choose your own ethos,” ends up divided and conquered and choked out by centralized govt mythos.
