How does the German method work? 25 * 65 = 1,625 25 65 5 * 5 = 25 (2 * 6) + 5 = 17 1,725 What am I missing?

You make this 35×76 and it also doesn't work. 35 76 5x6=30 (3x7)+6= 27 2730

The issue was writing 17 instead of 42, correct result is 25 * 65 = 1625.

generally it doesn't, given two double digit integers ab and cd, this method works only when 10*d = c*(a + b)

Don’t think the German method shown here works in general. This is how I’ve been doing it since school 25 65 a) 5*5 = 25, last digit of the answer 5, carry 2 b) (2*5)+(5*6)= 40, add 2 carried, 42. Next digit to the left 2, carry 4 c) 2*6 = 12, add carried 4, last digits to the left 16. Answer: 1625

my method (ukrainian): 25 * (70-5) = = 25 * (4 * 20 - 10 - 5) = // writing as i think through =100 * 20 - 250 - 25 = = 1750 - 25 = 1725

This only works with numbers both ending in 5, right? Change it to: 35 x 79 --------- 5 * 9 = 45 (3 * 7) + 9 = 30 3045 is ... incorrect. 🤨 How do you get to the correct answer (2765) using German method?

he’s doing 5 x 5 = 25 3 x (7+5) = 26 but I think it works only for specific cases, it’s not a standard rule that you can apply to any multiplication

I'd just times 65 by a hundred and do a quick lil divide by 2 twice in my head with these numbers. Call it the liquidated method
