What are some good ideas in consumer crypto that didn't work because they were ahead of their time (not because they were fundamentally wrong)?

I never understood a practical use case for TCRs. Seems like a nerdsnipe for the same people who get excited about DIDs.

People love curating things and competing on best curation. Everything from American Idol to Yelp are examples where people want to show off their taste and be right. Adding economic incentives to that can add a new dimension to the curation game.
