A lot of chatter recently about Farcaster, marketing and expanding beyond crypto I have yet to see a crisp definition of: 1. What problem does Farcaster solve for people outside of crypto today? 2. What evidence exists that existing at-scale free social networks and paid creator tools / platforms are insufficient in serving these people? 3. Assuming this population exists, what channel (i.e. tactics) do you market Farcaster to said people? I'm not asking for free work, fwiw. It's our job to figure to this out (we don't have an answer for this question ourselves). But hiring a "marketing team" when you don't have an answer to this question is not going to solve the problem. Marketing works great when you have a clear value prop and target market and channel.

I'm one of the people commenting about marketing, but I think the questions here are smart and I also am glad you're not rushing things. Social media that's not run by Elon is probably the #1 selling point for a lot of non crypto people. I know you share a lot of political and ideological views with Elon (I don't mean to assume, just based on what you've said in casts) but I guess I'm hoping that doesn't translate into censorship and lack of trust for the platform as it has with twitter. Ads is another thing. Ads are ruining the experience on a lot of other social media apps. Facebook is basically unusable now, an ad is literally every other post. The more WC stays away from advertising spam, the better. Also I'll just add that when I say I think FC should advertise I don't mean Superbowl ads I just mean on a small scale to start, not a major campaign just an effort to get the app in front of new eyes. ❤️✌️

I wonder if there is a critical mass approach as it relates to geography… thinking how axie and ronin really doubled down in the Philippines. Is there a city, country where building the FC brand would make sense. Example > not an actual suggestion > focus on say Cambridge > Harvard MIT etc, as I see it there is a lot of potential for younger populations to develop a professional network here … no idea if idea makes sense, just again thinking about critical mass. Have companies sponsor Onchain activities through frames for the young folk. Ideally it’s done across the spectrum with small businesses and community and gov’t also engaged. A mini saturation cycle to see how adoption and retention is impacted.

Since product is closest to twitter prolly have to pursue niche communities that get lost in the firehose of twitter Since technical knowledge is strong on the app from crypto audience I’d look at AI, biotech, VR, robotics and other intellectual based groups sharing information and demos about their projects with a strong DIY culture More likely to be able to utilize frames as well

Not really sure, definitely not my area of expertise. I imagine something kind of like the mint mobile ads on youtube, just really simple to get the name and concept out there. Like "hey isn't your social media app a pain sometimes, full of ads and bots? Farcaster is a new spin on social media trying to fix a lot of those issues, check it out."
