Work in progress: how to think about layers of the Farcaster ecosystem today and in the future. Email included for reference to another popular protocol where people have freedom to use different clients today. (Mail servers and gmail identity are less portable, of course). https://i.imgur.com/vTHufbU.jpg

Worth pointing out that private data could be renamed to client data and doesn't necessarily need to live in the cloud. Think old school email servers + POP3. Or sync personal data in iCloud (or Dropbox) like old school 1Password.

Farcloud is an interesting idea, but will clients really integrate multiple such tools, and what if Farcloud ends up becoming a centralized web2 company that locks user data in again? Would really love for farcaster protocol or a protocol on top of farcaster to tackle this eventually

Ever think there will be a need for Fid/fname registry on a separate chain? I don’t see a reason, but curious if you’ve ever thought of any.
