Work in progress: how to think about layers of the Farcaster ecosystem today and in the future. Email included for reference to another popular protocol where people have freedom to use different clients today. (Mail servers and gmail identity are less portable, of course). https://i.imgur.com/vTHufbU.jpg

Farcloud is an interesting idea, but will clients really integrate multiple such tools, and what if Farcloud ends up becoming a centralized web2 company that locks user data in again? Would really love for farcaster protocol or a protocol on top of farcaster to tackle this eventually

> what if Farcloud ends up becoming a centralized web2 company that locks user data in again When designing protocols, assume all companies, on some time horizon, will try to centralize for value extraction. i.e. why we are putting data constraints on Hubs to make it reasonable for developers to run one
