1. Distance is better in metric but temperature is better in imperial. 2. Americans don't like being told what to do more than most cultures.

How is temperature better in Fahrenheit? Beside 100 signaling human body fever, what happens at 0 F? It doesn’t even map on the Kelvin scale. 2.
