That doesn’t mean the user’s ability to choose isn’t extremely important

why wouldn't they? haven't seen this falsified (or verified) so it's still an assumption, no? which is cool, but what's the underlying reason you think? assuming there's 0 friction i.e, 1-2 clicks

fair.. i do know many folks who use lists regularly. but that's irrelevant cuz you're right, it's still a small minority. 

i think i'm allowing for a significant deviation between those outcomes and the potential outcomes from algo choice. 

it really offers a much/fundamentally different utility AND ux. that deviation only gets larger for algos to the degree that they're different or better than the norm.

and the design space here is so huge that it's unimaginable for us at this point how valuable normal users would find them

i regret the wording i chose there. i meant *most* users don't care

my assumption is mostly anecdotal and based on my usage of X where i outside of the for you feed i only use lists occasionally (specifically during sports events). feels more like a power user feature
