disagree with the take the fact that it allows you to disown your efforts doesn't mean it's useless imo people should: 1) aspire to be someone's role model (e.g. their kids) 2) aspire to be as good as or better than your role model (in ways you admire) the isolationism he suggests is antithetical to how society works. it's robotic.

I agree with your opinion of role models, they are an important part of society and inspiring people to be better. He’s talking about idolizing someone as society’s savior, which excuses inaction on behalf of the worshipper, meaning there is no aspiration happening at all, which is bad for society.
