It’s notable that both the new Pope and the new Romanian President are both mathematicians by training. Leo XIV holds a BSc in mathematics, and Nicușor Dan is a gold medalist at the International Mathematics Olympiad, which is a pretty significant achievement

congrats on the new president! i've met people half his skill (bronze, silver medalists) and the analytical ability and systems thinking was out of this world (granted, often with handicap in other areas, but still...)

thank you, it's been quite a ride to get to this point! as far as i could see, he is excelling on all plans: great communicator of complex issues for a wide audience, clearly understands what he/we are facing economically/socially/politically. he has been active in civil society/politics for more than a decade. very humble too
