the anon we know and love as @wake is gone. Some people wrote nice things about me after I left. I saw them later, and they made me feel good. I try to do the same for π§±, while keeping it at least 10% about me-me-meeeee. A thread π§΅:

[2/8] When I first joined, I thought wake owned an art gallery or sthg. Thought it would be nice to drive down and visit, say "hello I follow you on Warpcast", and try to find out if he was like, an Orioles kind of guy or more about the Nats.

Used to be, the best signal of a cast worth reading was when @pugson, @bias, and @wake replied in the comments. @hyper and @purp as well. those guys were always smart, never phony, each with a distinct and sharp pov. [3/8]

[4/8] I was a little intimidated by their familiarity ngl, but yolo and fafo and fml I followed wake's account when he had <300 followers. About a month later, he followed me back. I distinctly recall I had just passed 100 followers and maybe that meant I was enough?

Fast-forward ~Dec 23. I started to notice wake had quite strong opinions about tokens. Deep, informed takes on project choices, delivered confidently and clearly. In early 24, he spoke on a podcast about this new coin Degen. At some point he was offered, and took, an opportunity to angel. I assume, and still believe in my heart of hearts, that he earned his role permissionless-ly, through ideas and communication and knowing how to move. [5/8]

wakeβs degen wealth did not come from the angel round. he yoloβd $20k into it on launch and that skyrocketed to $20,000,000 at peak degen last year
