TypeScript was definitely a pretty big learning curve... Forced to learn it, thought it was not worth the ROI, but eventually it all just sunk in and it wasn't a big deal anymore to use. I still think it adds more work and "clutter" to code than it provides benefit and that unit tests are a better time investment.

having written both java and js before, ts feels familiar and i didn't need to spend too much time learning anything before i could write a useful app end to end. depends on the circumstances, but i usually avoid tests until necessary to preserve my own sanity, so ts feels like a good fit to me.
