i love $DEGEN and what it's accomplished for the Farcaster community, but i really wish the native Farcaster token name wasn't "degen"

Agreed on this! Wonder if there’s a way for the community to hold a naming contest. $DEGENs origins of the /degen channel and the memecoin mania that went on in the early days was important, but now that we’re approaching wider scale adoption, a friendlier name might be nice.

Depends on the contract. If it’s not upgradeable and there isn’t an update function for the token symbol, then it’s permanent.
