I agree, Trump likely sparked this, but the globalist elite in the party and media, being so pro-free trade, definitely overreacted, pushing their views down to the base. It’s a cycle 🔄

Trump is probably the main trigger, but the party and its media organs are run by a managerial class that is ideologically very internationalist and anti-protectionist, so they go into overdrive in reaction to Trump and that probably trickles down to the broader party.
