The best doctors will start the exam as soon as you have checked in. They'll walk by and peek to see how you are sitting (posture, core), what you are doing (mental cues, stressors), how you are walking to the exam room (gait, respiration), who you came with (social support) and your energy at the visit. When you get into the room, how you speak, your skin, affect, and during that time assess your speech/tongue as well. A lot can be learned before the visit even starts. 1 reply
