3 Friend is someone you hang out with on a routine basis and develop a relationship from which you can depend on each other. This becomes hard as you have kids and other requirements that take away from free time you’d spend with other people.

Yeah, and it’s also two sided - even if you don’t have kids, your friends likely do - limiting their availability as well.
