if you get the 16" M4 Max / 64GB / 2TB then it comes pretty close to that $5k and i wouldn't compromise for anything else

i would too if i could easily afford it tbh

certainly not needed but I bought it since I'm at a point where I can afford it / even small amounts of reduced friction when I'm locked in is worth it to me

I mostly care about RAM. Get all the RAM one can get.
