stop listening to users.

observe them, instead.

people either give answers they think are expected, cant accurately remember what they’ve done in the past, or under/overestimate what they’ll do in the future.

if you absolutely must directly ask your users what they want:

+ only ask open ended questions
+ ask to clarify without suggesting (“can you tell me more?”)
+ wait 5 sec after they’re done speaking (feels like eternity but gives them time to gather their thoughts)
