I'm big on Farcaster. Thanks to everyone who followed and helped me reach this milestone in about exactly a month of using the platform. I really appreciate as well as the people who have followed the /dropglobalnews platform. I think this is a great community and I also like playing around with the crypto angle of it through staking, tipping, and earning engagement.

As I've mentioned earlier I just like the internet generally and am happy to find people who are doing their best to make it a better place for everyone. I encourage everyone using and building Farcaster to do their best and I'm sure that in the future it will attract a wide audience of users and hopefully be remembered as the first wave of second generation social media platforms that offer users a deeper web of relationships and better structure for consuming information.

But over the last decade I’ve become much more left-libertarian, after seeing naked abuses of corporate power. And he’s become more tech-libertarian, as he’s seen cryptography protect rights when laws can’t.

Why shared standards are important - 

Have been doing some home reno lately and the amount of tools and standards are astounding. You need a specific wrench for a specific job... 

It's only worse in Web3 because everyone thinks they can just come up with whatever standards that fit their immediate use cases (or building moats wink wink). The amount of work that requires to build something custom is like 1000x harder than it is to use something that is open source and shared standard. 

In my case, I need to search all over amazon and hardware stores to find the right tools... In Web3 developers cases, they need to stackoverflow and spend tons of time reading docs and finding specs... 

We need to strive for less standards, less repeated work. Not the other way around...

Having a hard time writing an update:

Hopped over to Switzerland for UCI Alpine Gravel challenge with the hope to qualify for the world championships this October. 

Was going well at the very start and hanging with some people way above my level, but an accidental slide out sent my butt to the deck, and my day to a different direction. 

Gritted my teeth and caught up all day. 

Came up short, P26/70 and only top 19 qualified. 

Given my travel + work schedule, showing up on the start line with a descent enough shape would’ve been a win. 

There is another qualification event in two weeks in Girona - my mind and my body both say “take a chill pill my buddy”. 

Also have to thank my amazing girlfriend Vivian who ran up and down the mountain all day to give me support.

Screw it. This ain’t over. 

In Girona scouting out the course for this Saturday’s race - aka. the last chance to qualify for this year’s Gravel World Championships. 

Plus made some new friends 🐐🐐🐐
