I am often critical of leftists, but I do think they are correct that a class/economics-focused message is a better response to Trump than the hawkish Cold War bromides Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin delivered in response to his speech on Tuesday. At the same time, Bernie is ultimately not the ideal messenger for the national party. The public's appetite for a fairer economy where they're not at the mercy of unscrupulous corporate actors does not necessarily mean they have an appetite for Bernie's more sweeping vision for reform. https://x.com/jacobin/status/1897367238518485276

I don't think attacking billionaires resonates with the majority of the electorate. I think targeting specific billionaires like Musk/Bezos could be effective but alienating people like Cuban only hurts the party imo. What they really need is a unified front, everyone to fall in line like the Rs did with Trump.

The left is forming a unified front against all billionaires and Oligarchs. It will not compromise on this unlike the Dems. If the majority of the electorate still is brainwashed into thinking capitalism isn't killing them and all of us, maybe they'll wake up at some point when it gets bad enough, or they won't and the system will collapse.

This just results in lost elections and getting further from your desired outcomes. Accelerationism does not guarantee your preferred society emerges from the collapse and more likely results in a much worse world.

We have no power through the election system. Accelerationism is the default state of capitalism. It's not something we are choosing.

I'm not sure any of us wants to live through the transition period this would entail -- all for uncertain future gains.

Agreed. I wish we had a chance at democracy instead but it's been taken from us by the capitalists. Our elections are now unrelated to people's choices or beliefs and outcomes only depend on bribery (donations). Anyone blaming the left for this is delusional.
