I enjoyed this Hollywood Reporter "oral history" of White Lotus Season 3.

But I was shocked to learn it has a relatively small budget and doesn't pay actors that well for six months of filming. Why, I wonder?

Equality, what a concept. Curious if other seasons were like that. 

They likely have the leverage now as it's such a premier show now that they know everyone will watch.  Renting out an entire Four Seasons Resort for 2 of the 4 seasons can't be cheap.

It was a runaway hit by Season 1. Seems like HBO should give it a bigger budget.

As for parity between actors, no argument from me. But I think the equal slices have room to be larger given the lucre of the show.

I'm sure they get some, though I don't know how it works for subscription channels where profits aren't measured in ratings.

Maybe they get some kind of residuals, so take smaller up-front contract.
