Well, I did not have this on my bingo card for 2023 but I can’t tell you how relieved I am. Curious what the rest of #design thinks of this announcement. https://www.theverge.com/2023/12/18/24005996/adobe-figma-acquisition-abandoned-termination-fee

🌶️ Hot Take: Adobe paid $1B getting to look at the internals, teams, roadmaps, and features of the biggest threat to their design tool business since Macromedia. Adobe may consider it money well-spent and it's not an uncommon win-win tactic as part of M&A due diligence. ♟️ Curious about Figma's next move.

I'm still not sure if this will help Figma in any way! I was hoping that with this collaboration, Figma would become the ultimate web tool with all of the capabilities of Illustrator and Photoshop (if not a single app, atleast a seamless integration between them).

Towards the end, when it seemed like a done deal, I started to think of the ways it could be good (complex vector creations, photoshop file embeds etc) But figma started as its own thing and became what it is because of that Bloat and corporate death would have been all but assured had the merger gone through
