In Japan I rarely check reviews anymore. It’s really more, “hm…what do I want to eat.” and go to 1 of 3 of that genre of food within walking distance. Restaurant quality and quantity is great here.

one observation i made in asian countries (japan, singapore) is that ratings are generally lower here compared to western countries, even when the food is great. this might be because people in asia are more critical and generally have higher expectations?
