Yeah but also user anxiety. You could ask yourself the question, does it actually benefit the user or the company?

The anxiety does not come from the user having it on but from the users interacting. At least that is the main problem for chat apps.

there's a toggle to turn it off so there's no reason it should increase anxiety 

parent cast already says "assume opt in"
