we’ve been working on a big update for channels - launching first week of Jan 2025. we’re going to help channels become autonomous communities using Cura. @ispeaknerd.eth @cameron check this out. Thoughts on something for /tabletop and /creators ? @sahil any interest in letting me try this out with a small channel and using it for growth? I'm specifically interested in hearing about the "launch and distribute channel tokens portion".

Good question, and one that @sahil could better answer...but my assumption is that it is up to the community to supply the token, and this will provide the agent responsible for distributing based on community involvement. Think of the "rituals", but supercharging engagement by incentivizing it. At a previous farcaster dev meetup, I had heard that the term “channel entrepreneurs” was brought up. I think its brilliant. I keep using Facebook as a comparison. Facebook has over 1B users participating in Groups. What is missing from these groups is ownership and shared upside for participating and growing the community or group. If I'm understanding correctly, this could create that.

yes great articulation. tokens can either be - existing tokens like USDC, degen, higher that community mods want to distribute. right now a lot of mods use their own degen/moxie earnings and distribute back to the channel. In this case, cura will help give mods the leaderboard and a way to automatically distribute these tokens. - mods can launch their own channel token, which can automatically be rewarded to channel members based on positive contribution.
