The founder is trying to start a religious cult around the idea of not dying except of course being that he’s an atheist it is completely devoid of the divine. It's classic Terror Management Theory, we turn to God/Love/Arts as a way of fighting mortality. But as a lowercase-t transhumanist, I think technology is different from all the rest. I'll also point out the 'Mormon Transhumanist Association' merges trad religion with transhumanism.

I honestly think Mormons do it right. I love them. Religion provides guardrails against things this does not For example how many men have fumbled generational bags for a single orgasm? Cheating/sex scandals/Epstein/etc Mormonism does not allow you to do that if you adhere to it
