why hasn't using custom right click menus in your web app taken off? is it too hidden (need to educate users to right click)? not mobile first enough?

Senior prompt engineer. Shipped on farcaster: @larrybot, @qdau, @frames, @framesfun, /open-frames, farcasterchannels.com, farcaster.id, @mod, @search, @discove

I feel like its the fastest simplest menu for apps tho. I guess command bars have beaten right clicks - the problem with command bars is you need selection/focus state/UI

feels too advanced for mainstream use cases and not smooth enough for pro use cases (prefer to use key shortcuts instead)

i like what moritz said and agree it’s just pretty hidden for a lot of users

it also pisses me off when i’m trying to get to chrome right click items and they’re overridden with site specific commands

so maybe it’s just mostly associated w browser level controls instead of site
