The 4 Nations hockey tournament has been phenomenal. 

Convinces me that the NBA should move all-star weekend to a US vs. The World format.

whats crazy is that it took so long for someone to realize that the olympic format is amazingly entertaining and apply it to their sport. kudos to the nhl for pioneering

Yeah - I did (and it's sustained). 

Also, I love the idea of "sport as war". 

International tournaments like the WBC or 4 Nations or the World Cup are as close as we get.
