The 4 Nations hockey tournament has been phenomenal. 

Convinces me that the NBA should move all-star weekend to a US vs. The World format.

most def. every sporting league will re-evaluate their all star game after this.

whats crazy is that it took so long for someone to realize that the olympic format is amazingly entertaining and apply it to their sport. kudos to the nhl for pioneering

I’d consider the World Baseball Classic the pioneer out of the big 4, but agreed!

Yeah - I did (and it's sustained). 

Also, I love the idea of "sport as war". 

International tournaments like the WBC or 4 Nations or the World Cup are as close as we get.

ahh true. i totally forgot about that one. i wonder if baseball fans actually got excited about that when it first started and if so if that sustained over the years
