yo i wanted to leave that default, especially after seeing pushback from people i onboarded on warpcast

what is the gigabrain reason to force new users to use a pic?

better chance people engage with them and they stick around 

give a way to browse w/o an FID for those who aren’t compelled enough to get on the network properly

paying for an FID is >>> friction

maybe 1 or 2 out of 100 will pay for an FID and then churn bc they need to add a PFP (for their own and the networks good) 

meanwhile if it’s optional 33 / 100 won’t do it and then show up in replies as ghosts and people will be less likely to engage w them

lowkey i think it's wishful thinking, but uneffective

(from my experience) forcing people to choose a pfp at the start forces them to add something random and it's adding more friction before they actually get to use the app

i agree that browsing without fid is the way to go but currently won't work for my system
