I read his article and really liked it.
However, I'm still not sure if luxury is the right term.

Narrative

Imo, luxury is not only a taste /narrative you buy, but it also comes with a price tag. 
Otherwise, LV would have the same price as Zara.

According to @jihad 's defintion of luxury media, water and music should be considered luxury media. Their content and research is good from what I know, but I don't see them as something luxurious. In fact, it's affordable and easy to get access to it.

You need to apply and convince them to accept you. This makes soho house exclusive and it creates a community of like minded people.

Anyway, I'm not saying that the term "luxury media" is wrong. I just think its way to early to tell if something can be labeled  luxury media or not. For me, jihad's article is talking more about "community created media". I know it it does not sound as sexy as luxury media.

Furthermore, only because you need to pay for something does not mean you can label it luxury. For example, I would consider soho house as something luxurious, because paying the monthly membership fee (which is not cheap) is not enough to get access to it.
