Purple’s goal is to proliferate and expand the Farcaster protocol and ecosystem.

Suggestion: let's use one thread per new member to welcome them to purple.
10+ welcome casts for every new member is too much and spammy imo. 😵‍💫 Also, it leads to other important casts / conversations getting lost.

Yes, you're right. Users will continue to do it and not use threads, even if we would tell them. 
I assume the Farcaster team has other priorities but a quick win would be to notify existing members of new members but remove the cast button. It's my least preferred solution but I guess, it would reduce spam.

Agree, but probably isn’t possible unless Warpcast changes the Purple auction notification
