That's a great point, especially in regards to the direct participants. Expectations are so key here. I was thinking more in terms of perception from people who didn't directly participate, but heard about these things through the media, friends, etc.

Yeah, I suspect it's currently recency bias, but we'll see how bad it gets. That's why I set the 1 year framing :)

I actually think all 3 options are conceptually cool, but the mechanisms are so freaking powerful that it was too easy to lean into the scammy implementations and too hard to do them all the right way for various reasons

I don't think public awareness of Terra/LUNA/UST was as high, but certainly broad and large damage. FTX/SBF was 100% the worst, but I left that option off bc the ones I listed all have at least some redeeming qualities IMO

100%! I only left him off bc I think there are actually some positives seeds in each of the options I listed, while he's just a straight negative.

Haha, it's actually a personal transfer in this case! I'm very fortunate to have an expert team who handles the pain of processing wire payments in the rare cases where investment recipients won't take funding in crypto.

Nothing like trying to send an international wire to remind you that crypto UX is freaking amazing compared to the legacy banking system

9 times out of 10, the founder being a jerk to their competitors in public is insecure and knows they’re getting their ass kicked Pointing out where your product is better is fair game, but it’s pretty obvious to most observers when legit competition crosses into sour grapes

Assume a faulty block was proven via an optimistic rollup’s fault proof system. What happens for all the other users that then take actions based on an invalid state? Does the chain just get reset to the block prior to the invalid tx?

Tradfi got T+1 settlement? It’s not single-slot finality, but not bad! Wait, we’re not counting blocks? T+1 minutes? No? T+1 hours? Still no? T+1 days?! Yeah, clearly no use cases for blockchains…

The locked token holder isn’t selling in this case, or locking in profit in any way. They would earn interest in the token if anyone wants to borrow to short.

A potential solution to the low float / high FDV problem: Let vesting/locked tokens be deposited as the quote (borrowable) asset in a lending market This would effectively increase the float via short interest, enabling price discovery, without allowing insiders to sell sooner Thoughts?
