Is it illegal to give away money to followers?

What if I said I would give 1 ETH to a randomly chosen follower this Friday? 

Screw it, let's do it. I'm gonna give someone 1 ETH on Friday.

Ok, this went a little crazy. Woke up to 1000+ notifications. 

I love hearing everyone’s story. The good and the bad. So many people doing good in the world and we all have our struggles. 

How should I decide or pick who to give the money to? 

I want it to be fair, and meaningful to someone.

you said random so I’d think you want to stick to that, and to others’ points, be transparent about how that’s done and know that no matter what some won’t like it 😭
