the first computer my family owned was a Packard Bell 286 with 640 KB of RAM and 40 MB hard drive and a 16 color EGA monitor they didn’t come with mice back then as they were not needed to use the computer, but we bought one separately to plug into the serial port

I was just reminiscing about this last night with my dad and brother. Our first computer was a Sinclair with a membrane keyboard. Hooked up to a black and white TV and tape recorder for storage.

I’ll give away my age with this… a Radio Shack TRS-80. No disc drive. It used cassette tapes.

Apple //e for me. Which my mom used for word processing. We got a stack of games from a neighbor. Defender and Joust were early hits. Eventually discovered Ultima IV, which is still a top 5 game from my childhood. Queue… Dot matrix printers sounds.
