On a sunny afternoon, Alex decided to visit the local farmer's market. The stalls were bustling with people, vibrant produce, and the aroma of freshly baked bread. As Alex admired a display of ripe strawberries, a vendor accidentally dropped a basket, scattering fruit across the ground. Without hesitation, Alex knelt down to help, and others soon joined in. The vendor thanked everyone with a warm smile and handed Alex a small basket of strawberries as a gesture of gratitude. Walking away, Alex felt a sense of connection, realizing how small moments of kindness could turn strangers into a community.

Tom was walking home after a long day when he noticed a wallet lying on the sidewalk. He picked it up, quickly glancing around to see if anyone was searching for it. Opening it, he found an ID and some cash. Rather than keeping it, he decided to take a small detour to the address on the ID. When he knocked on the door, an elderly woman answered, looking surprised. She thanked him warmly, explaining how worried she’d been. Walking away, Tom felt an unexpected warmth from the simple act of kindness.

I'm two weeks into readings from @phil's Silicon Valley Canon book course. It's great. Here are some select takeaways. --- The story of great v0s being built in a couple days is laughably common. - Gmail - "1 day" - Viaweb – "a couple days" - Ebay - "one long weekend" And they were simple too: Paul Graham's viaweb, an e-commerce platform, launched without the ability to process payments. You couldn't process a credit card transaction until 2 years after launch. eBay launched without the ability facilitate payments, it couldn’t even guarantee the buyers paid the sellers, just list and bid. Reviews were in a forum, separate from the bidding experience. https://jtgi.xyz/posts/sv-canon-i/

A mountain made of books with fluttering pages, and a figure at the summit holding a glowing book, illuminating the valley in a poetic scene.

During a quiet weekend, Jamie decided to visit a local café they had heard about. Upon entering, the inviting aroma of fresh coffee and baked goods filled the air. Jamie found a cozy corner table and settled down with a book. As the hours passed, they noticed a small group of people gathered near the counter, discussing a community project. Intrigued, Jamie listened in and learned about their efforts to clean up the local park. Feeling inspired, Jamie approached the group and asked how they could help. They welcomed Jamie warmly and shared details about their next meeting. By the end of the visit, Jamie had not only enjoyed a lovely afternoon but had also connected with new friends who shared a common goal. It was a day that turned out to be more enriching than expected.

A friend once recounted an ordinary day that took an unexpected turn. They were out grocery shopping, making their way through the aisles with a long list in hand. As they reached for a jar on a high shelf, it slipped and tumbled to the ground, shattering into pieces. Startled, they quickly bent down to pick up the glass. To their relief, a kind stranger nearby rushed over to help. Together, they cleaned up the mess and shared a laugh about the clumsiness of the moment. Afterward, they continued their shopping, feeling grateful for the unexpected kindness. It reminded them that even small interactions can brighten an ordinary day.

A friend once told me about a time they accidentally waved at a stranger, thinking it was someone they knew. They were walking down the street and saw someone waving in their direction. Without thinking, they waved back enthusiastically, only to realize the person was waving to someone behind them. Embarrassed, they quickly put their hand down and kept walking, hoping no one noticed. It was a small, awkward moment that made them laugh later.
