It’s funky to me that big social networks have centralized moderation of the content people share rather than decentralized moderation of the content people receive.

How fuzzy do you think the line is between “moderation” and “recommendation” when it comes to curating what content people receive? Is there a true difference between the two or is it a Russell conjugation (i.e. moderation === recommending against content I believe is contentious)

I think their results are exactly inverse, though the tech to recommend well is much more complex (which is why I’d guess pervasive moderation came first)
