Just got stuck on a subway car with 40 six graders taking a field trip. Totally electric.

It’s funky to me that big social networks have centralized moderation of the content people share rather than decentralized moderation of the content people receive.

Lmk if you’d like an early invite to our social network for crazy thinkers (plexus.earth). It’s based around a new sharing mechanic: lets you send thoughts directly to the most interested people, regardless of whether you know them.

I’m insanely excited + worried about AI agents that can self reflect. I think they’ll exist within the year. All it takes, relative to current language models (chat gpt), I think, are two things:

followers, channels, groups all seem like approximate ways to find content that helps ya what if you the thing at the top of your feed were always the thing, of every thing on the internet, most likely to improve your life (regardless of whether you follow the author or joined the channel where it was posted)

reference calls pose an interesting challenge: how to get real color from a recommender who thinks they need to be positive? best q I’ve found: “What’s a strength of someone else you’ve recommended that isn’t a strength of __?” best questions yall have come across?

A bigg personality test: You’re grabbing a bike from within a closed garage. You press a button to open the garage door. Do you hunch in when there’s just enough room, or do you wait until the door’s rolled up far enough to enter standing straight?

consider a social network that works like a physical crowd - max 7 friends - posts propagate based on reception (if friends like, then friends of friends, then friends^3, etc) thoughts would only spread if people like them

apps are pretty arbitrary. they're not a naturally relevant kind of thing in people's lives (like relationships, meals, or streets). maybe that's why the best apps are the least noticeable. https://www.wired.com/story/halt-and-catch-fire-finale-message/

I've learned repeatedly that the most impactful tasks usually take <15 min to execute. The thing that takes a lot of time is figuring out which tasks they are.
