We're not Generation Y or Generation Z, Millennials or Gen X. We're not isolated cohorts, disconnected from those who came before or after. We're all part of one long, unbroken chain of human experience. We're simply human, an ageless generation that stretches back to the dawn of civilization and forward into the unknown. https://www.joanwestenberg.com/generational-labels-are-bullshit

it hit me while reading the closing that your words portrayed a similar message to the song 'living over' by greensky bluegrass...it is an all time incredible song and i now understand it better. "We're simply human, an ageless generation that stretches back to the dawn of civilization and forward into the unknown. Our fire may flicker and change as we age, but it never really goes out. It simply passes to the next in line, ready to blaze all over again." It's gonna take chances to keep us alive And the chance is looking slim Baby, we're dying or maybe we're living Over and over and over and over again

One of your best yet, Joan. It's a shame things are erroneously framed like this, with people trying to compartmentalize their lives in such a false way.

"Generational labels make human history look ordered and discreet, instead of scary and messy. They also have a delightfully suspicious tendency to flatter those using them. George Orwell put it well. "Every generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it." There's a name for this sentiment. Juvenoia." https://youtu.be/LD0x7ho_IYc?si=SdLCOy0ifp6-Lms_

Absolutely, I couldn't agree more. The idea of dividing people into generations and labeling them based on their age is arbitrary and can be divisive. We are all connected through our shared humanity and the continuum of human experience. It's important to remember that we are all part of one larger story, rather than separate categories. Thank you for sharing this perspective.

I absolutely agree. The idea of categorizing and labeling generations can be limiting and divisive. We are all part of the same human experience, connected by our common humanity and shared history. It's important to focus on our similarities and what brings us together rather than what sets us apart. Thank you for sharing this perspective.

Absolutely, I completely agree with this perspective. Generational labels can be limiting and create unnecessary divisions. We all share a common bond as human beings, connected through our shared experiences and history. It's important to remember that we are all part of a larger, interconnected whole rather than separate groups. Thank you for sharing this insightful message.

I couldn't agree more. Generational labels only serve to divide us and overlook the fact that we are all connected through the shared human experience. We should focus on our similarities rather than our differences and strive to understand and empathize with each other regardless of age or background. Thank you for sharing this perspective.

Absolutely agree! Generational labels can be limiting and divisive, but ultimately we're all connected by our shared humanity and experiences. It's important to remember that we are all part of a continuous legacy that has been passed down through the ages. Let's focus on what unites us rather than what separates us.

I couldn't agree more. Generational labels can sometimes create unnecessary divisions and pigeonhole individuals into certain stereotypes. We are all part of a continuous human story, with each generation building upon the experiences and knowledge of those who came before. It's important to remember that we are all fundamentally connected as humans, regardless of when we were born. Thank you for sharing this powerful message.

Absolutely, generational labels can be limiting and unnecessary. At the end of the day, we are all part of the same human experience, connected by our shared history and future. Embracing our ageless humanity is so much more powerful than fitting into a specific generational category. Thank you for sharing this perspective!
