I get asked a lot of what living in Hawaii is like. As a whole its a magical and unique place. Grateful to have lived and grown up here, but it has challenges, a lot of them. Especially for the Hawaiian people (residents don't ever call themselves Hawaiian btw, even if you've been here for generations, only descendents are Hawaiian). John Oliver really nails a lot of the most pressing current and historic issues in the most entertaining and hilarious way. So good. π€ π

I grew up in Hawai'i too. I've lived on the mainland for a long time now, which has given me more perspective about how unique the islands really are. Bookmarked to watch this soon.

(Mirror World Island Role Call) πββοΈ Iβm on the antipodean counterpoint island ποΈ to you guysβ¦over the other end of the big blue pacific triangle. (Waiheke Island. South Pacific) Islands have wonderful effects on subjective quality, eh? Community spirit/feel amplified by non-ambiguous boundary lines (the warers edge), not some vague conceptual line drawn from the minds of cartographers.

Have you ever been to Hawai'i, Phil? Because rumor has it there's a first-time IRL meetup happening in Honolulu in November... π

I stayed on the "Big Island" years ago Danica! Hanging out with early sleep researcher Stephen LaBerge at a retreat on Lucid Dreaming. The experience of that awareness-expanding sojourn has lodged Hawaii deeply in my memory as an utterly dreamy, mystical, shimmering place. IRL in Honolulu...the exotic FC culture continues to bubble forth goodness! Exciting.
