substack’s pivot is a symptom to a real problem

it’s tough to make money solely as a long-form writer, and finding “pmf” as a writer involves trying diff kinds of strategies

even successful writers need to go on tours, sell courses etc

That's the heart of it, right there. That's the problem web3 "creator economy" business models need to tackle, IMO. Make it easier for long-form writers to make a living without adding tons of additional labor to their already heavy workloads.

I'd like to think web3 can crack this problem, but if I'm honest I have doubts. Tipping isn't sustainable (it also adds more labor for people who are already overworked) and rewards programs are supplemental revenue at best. Especially if you're slowcore.
