substack’s pivot is a symptom to a real problem it’s tough to make money solely as a long-form writer, and finding “pmf” as a writer involves trying diff kinds of strategies even successful writers need to go on tours, sell courses etc therefore creator platforms need to provide more models of success 1/n

eg the “cameron” way of being our union boss and how the @seemore subscription is more than just the useful website, it’s about strategizing new ways to reach people together overall, longform writing works best when combined with other forms of media and offerings, for audience discovery and retention 2/2

"it’s tough to make money solely as a long-form writer" That's the heart of it, right there. That's the problem web3 "creator economy" business models need to tackle, IMO. Make it easier for long-form writers to make a living without adding tons of additional labor to their already heavy workloads.

Also: 83 $DEGEN to you for mentioning the difficulty long-form writers face in making money, especially in the context of Substack's pivot. I've been talking about writers' struggles extensively in DMs, and we're planning to talk about it more often on /slowcore-hq soon too, but it's nice to see it discussed this way.
