I've seen this sentiment on the timeline for a few weeks now, and personally I too am always battling with not loosing my idealism. Especially when we seem to just run after faster, bigger better without stopping to ask: why? What future do we even want?

Naomi, sorry to be That Person Who Copyedits Without Being Asked, but when it's in a title I just can't resist. The word you want in that title is spelled "Losing" with only one "o."

loose conception of spelling these days for me. šŸ™ˆ let's see if the metadata adjusts. If not, you will have to see past it

Shows up correctly when I click on "read" now (though not in the preview panel). In any case, thanks for writing another thoughtful piece. I appreciate the pointers to the tweets in which people are talking frankly about disillusionment with the web3 space and being honest that "integrity doesn't earn more." Relatable, and also quite sad. It's risky to talk about this stuff openly, but there are extractive patterns operating in structural ways that many people don't see, so I appreciate their contributions to the public convo and your effort to surface them.

Thank you for your kind words. Its indeed quite sad, and I agree it's risky but in the end there's many people who probably feel this way and don't talk about it at all and the least we can do is make sure it's seen and heard.

Agreed. For every person who pushes back when people speak out frankly about how the structural patterns affect them negatively, there are probably at least 3 more who are quietly nodding their heads and thinking something like "Yes. It's about time we had this convo in public." Public convos don't necessarily lead to substantive change, but they do make a difference, especially to the struggling people who may not be in a position to speak out. So I agree with your stance on the importance of making them seen and heard.

And from an ego-centric standpoint, often I wonder if I'm too long in the bubble: am I the mad one? So it helps writing it out and seeing, if I am, I'm at least not alone in it haha
