Best argument for wc going hard algo is because Elon’s X has abandoned neutrality SO hard. He’s left a huge gap for absolutely any less manipulated alternative.

Yeah of course. And Elon and Dorsey both claimed that's totally where they're headed. Really looking forward to it!

But also.... if your default algorithm is blatantly trying to manipulate an election outcome on the third autosuggest, you're giving off shady vibes. I think most people would agree.

If X allowed 3rd party clients that get to choose their own algo, I suspect people would be much less upset.

Nobody cares about theoretical neutrality when the dominant platform is trying to choose winners so hard.

I mean to be fair all the feeds on decentralized socials are pretty much closed sourced and they are heavily skewed towards certain keywords and accounts and actions.

Neutrality is not really possible on any social media, openness it is, in theory, but any client with closed algos is neither decentralized or open.

No auto suggest nazis? That's it - I'm out.

It's hard not to be just a bit conspiratorial about their moderation and algo decisions. The groyper troll farms are running rampant, it's trivial to pay for bots to boost your account, and the ways to track this and call it out are harder than ever.
