I wish Farcaster had opt-in proof-of-personhood attestations we can attach to our FID. Picturing a permissionless market of options so everyone can decide which are the most credible.

Seems this would dramatically reduce the bot problem over the long term?

Most "bots" people are complaining about on Farcaster are actual humans using mobile devices and ChatGPT. They are uninteresting, not unhuman.

People throwing around "proof of personhood" like it's a problem that has already been solved, or is trivially solved.

I can't shake the feeling we've done our people wrong by letting this stuff slide.

Is it too late to adopt a culture of being specific about the solutions we're referring to?

Yeah, we're in agreement. Proof of personhood is definitely not solved and even then, it doesn't solve the problem of "is this person / reply / etc." going to be interesting to the other individual.

I should have said attestations instead of proof of personhood. The latter will always be an emergent property of many attestations.
